This is a great example of the planning that goes into all our floors. Our customer had a brand new kitchen installed and had some very old tiles that needed a lot of work lifting. They were tight to the floor with an old product no longer recommended for laying flooring of this kind. We uplifted the old floor, and cleaned up, with a little help from their little lad. We filled so many bins with all the old tiles and took them away.
Preparing the floor we ground some areas to even the surface. Did a moisture check and then went ahead and smoothed the floor with screed giving that lovely grey surface to work with. Then we began to plan out the floor style as our customer wanted a border and then the rest of her Karndean flooring laid on the 45-degree angle. This is a wonderful alternative to straight planks, especially when you have a large area to cover as it makes a real statement. Between the kitchen and the utility room, we altered the laying pattern to straight for the smaller space.
In the images, you can see our team pencilling in the laying pattern and make stencils to cover the curves around the new kitchen units giving it that perfect alignment of the design.
